Lucan Festival Family Day 2026

The Village Centre, Lucan Free From 12:30pm

Lucan’s long-running annual festival returns for its Family Day — the biggest free community event of the autumn calendar in the area. The Village Centre comes alive with live entertainment, stalls, activities for children and a real celebration of everything that makes Lucan such a strong community. A great introduction to the village for anyone who’s recently moved to the area.

Larchill Arcadian Gardens — Car Boot & Family Day Out

Larchill Gardens, near Kilcock €2 Entry 10am – 2pm

Sunday 6 September is the final car boot market of the year at Larchill — a lovely way to spend a September morning in one of Kildare’s most distinctive 18th-century heritage gardens. Bric-a-brac, plants, vintage finds and homemade produce, with the gardens included in the €2 entry. Children go free, no booking needed. Last chance until 2027.

Lucan Harriers 5 Mile Road Race — Dublin Championship

Newcastle Road, Lucan Ticketed 10am

Lucan Harriers host this Dublin Championship 5-mile road race on Newcastle Road — one of the county’s most popular autumn racing fixtures. Open to all registered runners, and a natural follow-on for anyone who ran the Celbridge AC 5km in August. Exact entry details to be published by Lucan Harriers closer to the date.

The Sunday market in St Catherine’s Park runs through to the end of October, so September still brings four more Sundays of artisan food, coffee and crafts in 200 acres of riverside parkland between Lucan and Leixlip. The season is winding down — all the more reason to make the most of it this month while the weather holds.

Winners of the Irish Folk Music Award for Best Live Act, The Druids bring their internationally acclaimed show to the intimate setting of Christ Church Celbridge on Saturday 26 September. Founding members Mick O’Brien and Gary Lawlor, together with accordion master Neil Harney and guitarist Kevin Rooney, have played Good Morning America and toured the US, UK and Europe — this is a rare chance to catch them on the doorstep. Free parking on Main Street and at Tesco nearby.
